Pakistan chief selector Mohammad Wasim noted that spinner Yasir Shah needs to take the necessary steps to ensure he doesn’t keep succumbing to injuries.

This comes after Yasir was not picked for the tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe since he is recovering from a left knee injury.

Wasim has already confirmed that Yasir will work with legendary spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who is the Head of International Player Development at the National High Performance Centre.

He added that the physios will also work out a fitness plan with the 34-year-old to keep him fit and healthy.

“We wish to help him prolong his career, otherwise who knows how long he can continue to play with these types of injuries as they can be very damaging for him,” Wasim told PakPassion.

Pakistan will play three ODIs and four T20 Internationals against South Africa before heading to Zimbabwe for two Tests and three T20 Internationals.

The men in green will then head to Zimbabwe on April 17, but the dates for the matches have yet to be confirmed.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) noted that the national team will travel back to Lahore from Bulawayo on May 12.
