Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq believes that chief selector Mohammad Wasim is being controlled by people with power.

This comes after captain Babar Azam wanted spinner Yasir Shah included in the Test squad for the tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe, but the selectors ignored him.

He also asked for batsman Haris Sohail to be in the ODI team, but once again, the selectors didn’t listen.

In fact, it was reported that Wasim told Azam that the squad selection was not his concern.

Given the alleged tensions between the duo, Inzamam said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should “open their eyes” and decide what needs to be done about the situation and the national team’s selection policy going forward.

“I am telling you this thing categorically that Mohammad Wasim has been made the chief selector by some people and those powers are controlling him,” Inzamam said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

“The board should open their eyes and should think about what they want to do with cricket. You have won the last T20 series and you have still made five to six changes. Five to six changes have been made in ODIs and players that are selected have played just two to three matches. This is not the standard of Pakistan cricket.

“The player who bowled well in two matches of [the] PSL is selected, is this the standard of Pakistan cricket? It feels like everything is being done by the board from behind.”

Pakistan will play three ODIs and four T20 Internationals against South Africa before heading to Zimbabwe for two Tests and three T20 Internationals.

Pakistan will depart for South Africa on March 26 and the tour will commence on April 2 and conclude on April 16. The ODI series will be played first.

The men in green will then head to Zimbabwe on April 17, but the dates for the matches have yet to be confirmed.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) noted that the national team will travel back to Lahore from Bulawayo on May 12.
