Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg believes that the current Pakistan team would have the best chance of beating India in India.

India is considered to be one of the toughest places to tour since the Virat Kohli-led side is so dominant on home soil.

Explaining why Pakistan would be most likely to beat India, Hogg noted that the men in green have a “very strong pace unit”, “good spinners” and “depth in their batting”.

“Well I think the best team at the moment would be Pakistan because they have got a very strong pace unit and have got some good spinners. They also got depth in their batting and know the Indian conditions quite well,” Hogg said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan in response to a viewer who asked which Test team can defeat India in India.

However, since India and Pakistan don’t play any bilateral series, Hogg noted that Australia are the “next best team” to defeat India in their backyard.

“But they can’t go over there for government reasons, so the next best team is Australia and I am not being biased. We have got the likes of [David] Warner, [Marnus] Labuschagne and Steve Smith. We have got a very potent batting line-up as well as bowling line-up. I think if there is any chance of us beating India on Indian soil right now, it’s going to be over the next couple of years,” he said.

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since the latter toured India for two Twenty20 Internationals and three ODIs from December 2012 to January 2013.

Since then, the two arch-rivals have only clashed at major cricket events like the World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and Asia Cup.
