Pakistan captain Babar Azam has confirmed that he will open the batting with Fakhar Zaman during the Twenty20 series against Australia.
The Twenty20 series against Australia, which will be held from November 3 to 8, will be Azam’s first assignment as captain. The 25-year-old replaced Sarfaraz Ahmed as leader of the Twenty20 squad last week.
With Azam promoting himself up the order, he noted that Imam-ul-Haq will be the back up opener.
“Imam-ul-Haq will be the back up opener. I will open the innings with Fakhar Zaman,” he was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk.
