Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has urged the national team’s coaching staff to give seamer Naseem Shah the “freedom to bowl at the fastest possible pace”.
Naseem, 16, was one of the surprise selections for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Australia as he was included in the squad for the two-Test series, which will run from November 21 to December 3.
In addition to letting Naseem bowl at his quickest, Akhtar also advised the coaching staff not to “overtrain” him.
“I would suggest the board not overtrain him. Australia have never faced him before. I hope he’ll be given the freedom to bowl at the fastest possible pace,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by the Business Recorder.
