Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed believes the uncapped pace duo of Naseem Shah and Muhammad Musa could struggle during the tour of Australia since they are inexperienced.

Naseem, 16, was included in the team for the two-Test series, while Musa found a place in both the Test and Twenty20 squads.

Naseem has claimed 17 wickets in five first-class games at an average of 18.70. He went wicketless in the one List A match he played and has picked up two wickets in three Twenty20s at an average of 51.50.

As for Musa, he has featured in seven first-class matches and taken 17 wickets at an average of 37.52. He has also played six List A and eight Twenty20 games, where he has taken seven wickets at an average of 45.14 and 12 wickets at an average of 22.75 respectively.

Delving deeper into the other problems the young bowling duo may face in Australia, Javed was quoted by PakPassion as saying: “I really feel both youngsters are tough competitors and have been holding their own in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, but I feel that it’s too early to bring them into Test cricket.

“I will go back to my original point and say that Australia is the last place for them to be beginning their careers. The length that we bowl in Pakistan can become too short for pitches in Australia and the bowlers can get pulled away by batsmen with ease.

“Then when inexperienced bowlers try and adjust the length they run into other problems. No matter how much (bowling coach) Waqar Younis tells the youngsters, they simply won’t have the experience to adjust to those conditions and to execute the plans that their bowling coach gives them.”

Pakistan’s tour of Australia will consist of three Twenty20 Internationals from November 3 to 8, and two Tests from November 21 to December 3.

  1. I disagree that Australia isn’t the right place for them to start. Individuals who always think they know best as to when one should not be given a chance think that the mind of those youngsters are like their.

They deserve to play and so let them play regardless of where they will begin.

I want them both to perform well so that those who always find objections when a young lad get his chance will rethink things.

Cricket is cricket regardless of where you are playing and so sticking with and to the basics of the game is key.

Help the youngsters now not only later in the future.

Now is the time for the youth of our day to step up and show case their worth. The two young bowlers have my blessings.

You both will be successful so never give up even if it does not go your way at the start.

    Just don’t quit. Don’t quit.
