Legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad has expressed concerns about Babar Azam’s future after he was named Twenty20 captain.
Azam replaced Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain, but Miandad is worried about how this will affect his performance as a batsman.
Pakistan has relied on Azam a lot as of late as the 25-year-old has been the team’s most consistent batsman.
“Currently, Babar is the No.1 ranked batsman in T20s. I fear his own performance may go down as the youngster lacks experience to lead the national side at such a high level,” Miandad was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.
Azam’s first assignment as captain will be a three-match Twenty20 series against Australia from November 3 to 8.
