Legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad believes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made a massive mistake in sacking Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain.
Sarfaraz was removed as Test and Twenty20 captain, with Azhar Ali and Babar Azam replacing him in the longest and shortest formats respectively.
Miandad feels that Sarfaraz should have been retained as captain for the upcoming tour of Australia, which will consist of three Twenty20 Internationals from November 3 to 8, and two Tests from November 21 to December 3, while Azam should have been made vice-captain.
“Sarfaraz should have continued as captain for the series against Australia next month while Babar should have been assigned as his deputy,” Miandad was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.
“Though Sarfaraz’s performance had gone down as a batsman, he was an excellent wicketkeeper and the board should have given him some time to recover.”
