Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan hammered an unbeaten 70 and took a wicket to lead his side to a four-wicket win over Afghanistan in Chattogram.

Being put in to bat first, Afghanistan got off to an excellent start as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai amassed a 75-run partnership before Zazai was dismissed by Afif Hossain for a 35-ball 47, which included six boundaries and two sixes.

Afif struck again two balls later as he took out Asghar Afghan for a duck.

Gurbaz went on to make 29 before he was caught and bowled by Mustafizur Rahman.

Once Gurbaz was gone, Afghanistan began to lose wickets at regular intervals as they went from being 80/3 in the 11th over to finishing on 138/7.

Afif was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Mustafizur, Shakib, Shafiul Islam and Mohammad Saifuddin chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 139 to win, Bangladesh lost opener Liton Das early on as he was removed by Mujeeb Ur Rahman for four runs.

Najmul Hossain Shanto failed to have an impact as well as he was dismissed by debutant Naveen-ul-Haq for five runs.

Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim stabilised the innings with a 58-run partnership before Rahim was sent packing by Karim Janat for 26.

Even though Bangladesh continued to lose wickets, Shakib ensured they got over the finish line as he ended up making an unbeaten 70, which came off 45 balls and included eight boundaries and a six.

Naveen and captain Rashid Khan took two wickets apiece, while Mujeeb and Janat claimed one wicket each.

Shakib was named Man of the Match.
