Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal believes that skill should take precedence over fitness when picking players in the national team.
Lately, fitness has become an integral part of the Pakistan team, whereby players who don’t pass a fitness test are left out of the side.
However, while Akmal feels fitness is important, he pointed out that skill is even more crucial.
“Skills should be seen first. Fitness comes along with it. No one can say that I am unfit. I am playing a lot of cricket around the world. I am also playing a lot of first-class cricket and performing well. Skills therefore should be given priority,” Akmal told cricketpakistan.com.pk.
