Former Pakistan pace bowler Sarfraz Nawaz believes that leg-spinner Abdul Qadir should be named chief selector and seamer Aaqib Javed appointed as the national team’s bowling coach.
In addition to this, Sarfraz added that the rest of the coaching staff should be Pakistani as foreign coaches don’t stay in the country for lengthy periods of time due to security concerns.
“Foreign coaches do not remain in Pakistan for longer periods. And furthermore they are not very interested in extensively travelling to different cities for witnessing talented players featuring in domestic cricket,” he told Dawn.
“Therefore, no foreign coach can serve the purpose of improving Pakistan cricket, which can be achieved only by keeping a permanent focus [on the job]. For this reason, I believe talented Pakistanis should be hired as head coach, and batting, bowling and fielding coaches.”
