Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Wasim Akram has admitted that he was surprised by fellow left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir’s decision to retire from Test cricket.

Amir bid Test cricket farewell despite only being 27 as he wants to focus on limited overs cricket.

His decision has left many people stunned, including Akram.

“To me Mohammad Amir retiring from Test cricket is a bit surprising because you peak at 27-28 and Test cricket is where you are judged against the best, it’s the ultimate format. Pakistan will need him in [the] two Tests in Australia and then three in England,” Akram said on Twitter.
