Legendary Pakistan seamer Shoaib Akhtar believes the pace trio of Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz and Juanid Khan will join Mohammad Amir in retiring from Test cricket.
Amir announced his retirement from the longest format of the game in order to focus on limited overs cricket.
Akhtar is now worried that Hasan, Wahab and Junaid could follow in Amir’s footsteps as he believes they are more interested in playing Twenty20 Internationals.
“Mohammad Amir’s retirement could be followed by Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz and Juanid Khan’s retirement,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by PakPassion. “I don’t understand what is happening with the Pakistan team. How could Mohammad Amir retire at the age of 27? Pakistan has invested so much in him and brought him out of the match-fixing scandal to the national side and is trying to give him chances. Now that he was in good form, he has retired.”
“All these players just want to be the T20I bowlers. This is the fact. Amir, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, all these players want to only [play] in T20Is. Playing in ODIs also seems to be a big task for them.”
