Former Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir believes legends like Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan and Shoaib Akhtar are capable of being brilliant coaches.

This comes as Pakistan are rumoured to change their entire coaching staff following the team’s failure to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

With that in mind, Qadir believes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should hire local coaches rather than foreign ones.

“We have several greats like Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Saeed Anwar, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Sarfraz Nawaz, Shoaib Mohammad, Shoaib Akhtar [and] Ijaz Ahmed. They are best known for their skills and expertise. They are highly patriotic people, who can pass their skills to the current players with utmost dedication. I think they must be given the chance to serve in this capacity,” he was quoted as saying by The Nation.
