Glamorgan have expressed an interest in signing Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman for the first few games of the 2019 Vitality Blast, which is England’s domestic Twenty20 tournament.
Glamorgan are looking at Zaman as a potential replacement for Australia batsman Shaun Marsh, who was ruled out of the World Cup earlier on after suffering a broken arm while batting in the nets.
Zaman could join the team for the first four matches as Mitchell Marsh, who is Shaun’s brother, will join the county side after their first four Vitality Blast games.
Zaman had a disappointing showing at the World Cup as he accumulated 186 runs in eight matches, which included a lone half-century, at an average of 23.25.
In regards to his Twenty20 International career, the 29-year-old has represented Pakistan in 30 matches, where he has amassed 748 runs, which included four fifties, at an average of 25.79.
Glamorgan will begin their Vitality Blast campaign against Somerset in Cardiff on Thursday.
