The 2019 World Cup concluded on Sunday with England triumphing after a nail-biting win over New Zealand that went down to a Super Over, but what superb accomplishment did Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi achieve in the tournament?
Afridi finished with the best bowling figures in the tournament as his 6-35 against Bangladesh was the top bowling performance out of everyone.
The 19-year-old not only became the youngest bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a World Cup match, but he also registered the best figures by a Pakistan player in a World Cup game.
Afridi only featured in five matches for Pakistan in this World Cup, but he caught fire after a slow start and ended up taking 16 wickets at a superb average of 14.62.
While Pakistan fell agonisingly short of qualifying for the semi-finals despite, Afridi can take some consolation from the fact that he produced the greatest bowling performance at the World Cup in terms of wickets taken.
