Trent Boult: “We watched video clips of Pakistan’s win against India in the Champions Trophy final for inspiration”

New Zealand left-arm seamer Trent Boult has revealed that his side gained “inspiration” from watching Pakistan beat India in the Champions Trophy final in 2017.
Boult’s comments come after New Zealand advanced to the World Cup final after beating India by 18 runs in their semi-final clash in Manchester.
Boult took two key wickets in the match as he trapped India captain Virat Kohli lbw for one run before removing Ravindra Jadeja for 77 at a crucial point where it seemed as if India could potentially secure an incredible come-from-behind win.
Pakistan lost to India by 124 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in the group stage of the Champions Trophy, but the men in green absolutely demolished their arch-rivals by 180 runs in the final.
Given how India were touted as favourites, just like they were coming into their match against New Zealand, Boult admitted that the Black Caps were inspired by the way in which Pakistan defeated India.

New Zealand will now either play Australia or England in the final, depending on which side triumphs in their semi-finals clash at Edgbaston on Thursday.
