Pakistan earned a big payday from the World Cup even though they fell agonisingly short of qualifying for the semi-finals.
According to cricketpakistan.com.pk, the team will receive PKR 20 million after finishing fifth at the end of the group stage of the tournament.
Each team receives a total of PKR 2.8 million for winning a match, while they are also guaranteed PKR 7 million for participating in the group stage of the World Cup.
An abandoned match will lead to a team receiving PKR 1.4 million, and Pakistan will get that figure since their clash against Sri Lanka in Bristol was washed out without a single ball being bowled.
Since the men in green finished with five wins, three losses and had one game washed out, they earned a sizable payday at the World Cup.
The team that wins the World Cup will receive PKR 280 million, which is the largest amount in prize money in the history of the showpiece event.
In regards to the runners-up, they will receive PKR 140 million.
All the semi-finalists will get PKR 55 million, but Pakistan missed out on this as New Zealand edged them out for the final spot in the last four since they had a superior net run rate.
