Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan was not disappointed with his performance at the World Cup as he felt he gave it his all.

Shadab has initially been in doubt for the early part of the tournament after he was diagnosed with hepatitis C.

However, he made a full recovery and went on to feature in seven World Cup matches, where he took nine wickets at an average of 35.55.

Despite his efforts, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals as New Zealand edged them out for the final spot since they had a better net run rate than the men in green.

“Obviously, it is not easy to come straight into the team and start to deliver, but by the grace of the Almighty, I did my level best and tried to give my 100 percent,” Shadab was quoted as saying by The Nation. “It hurts that we failed to win the World Cup, like our Prime Minister Imran Khan did for the country in 1992. We tried to follow in his footsteps but unfortunately, things didn’t go our way.

“I feel we are satisfied with our performances and [will] try to do well in the future.”
