Sarfraz Ahmed has admitted that he doesn’t know what the future holds for him as Pakistan’s captain and added that it is up to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to decide his fate.
Sarfraz’s comments come after Pakistan were eliminated from the World Cup on Friday.
The men in green defeated Bangladesh by 94 runs in their final group stage match, but since New Zealand had a better net run rate, they advanced to the semi-finals.
The PCB will hold a comprehensive review soon and decide whether changes need to be made in regards to the team’s captain, coaching staff and selectors.
While Sarfraz will have to wait to find out whether he is retained as captain, he insisted that the PCB will make a decision based on what’s best for Pakistan cricket.
“Don’t make a headline saying Sarfraz said I won’t leave the captaincy,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “It’s up to the PCB, they made me the captain and going forward, they will also decide who is best for Pakistan cricket.”
