Former Pakistan batsman Bazid Khan believes that head coach Mickey Arthur will be sacked following the national team’s exit from the World Cup.

While Bazid thinks that Arthur has done a good job, he pointed out that changes need to be made since the men in green failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

Pakistan won their last four games at the tournament, during which they beat South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, but they fell agonisingly short of reaching the last four as New Zealand had a better net run rate than them.

“The interesting thing for me is what the PCB does with the coaching staff,” Bazid told cricketcountry.com. “In my opinion, Arthur has done really well with whatever resources he has. Things could have been done differently, and I think it’s time to move onto someone fresher because actually Arthur hasn’t worked. Pakistan haven’t qualified for the World Cup semi-finals. The bottom line is that this is the biggest tournament.

“If you don’t get into the top four then you have to reassess everything and make changes. You need fresher ideas and fresher minds to build towards the next World Cup, because from now that’s what it is – building to the next World Cup.”
