Wasim Akram: “There is no quick fix and the people running cricket need time and must keep the example of how England lifted their one-day cricket. I am ready to contribute towards that”

Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram has revealed that he is ready to help rebuild the national team after their World Cup exit.

Despite failing to make the semi-finals, Akram insisted that there is no need for the national team to start panicking.

Pakistan failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals since they had a worse net run rate than New Zealand.

However, Akram noted that they still won their last four games.

Pakistan were teetering on the edge of elimination after their loss to arch-rivals India, but they launched an incredible comeback as they beat South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Despite this, they fell agonisingly short of reaching the last four.

“Pakistan woke up late in the World Cup and when they gained momentum they won four straight games,” Akram told AFP as quoted by cricketpakistan.com.pk. “It is not a bad finish and I don’t think we need to panic.

“There is no quick fix and the people running cricket need time and must keep the example of how England lifted their one-day cricket. I am ready to contribute towards that.”
