Pakistan left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz firmly believes that fellow left-armer Mohammad Amir is “one of the best bowlers in the world”.
Wahab’s comments come as Amir has enjoyed a superb World Cup campaign, where he is currently the joint third-highest wicket-taker with 16 victims at an average of 20.43.
Amir’s turnaround in fortunes has been extremely impressive, especially considering that between the conclusion of the Champions Trophy in 2017 and prior to the start of the World Cup, Amir has taken five wickets in 15 ODIs at an average of 92.60.
“Amir we already know is one of the best bowlers in the world who swings the ball both ways. That puts pressure on the batsmen to play him,” Wahab was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “It’s a good combination right now, we are trying to take wickets and that is putting the team in a great position.”
Pakistan now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday and hope that New Zealand beat England on Wednesday as that will secure them a spot in the last four.
