Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has heaped praise on Imad Wasim and Shaheen Shah Afridi for their superb performance against Afghanistan on Saturday.

Imad helped Pakistan secure a three-wicket win as he took two wickets and followed that up with a game-winning 49 not out, which came off 54 balls and included five boundaries.

As for Afridi, he finished with figures of 4-47 off his 10 overs.

The 19-year-old made history during the match as he broke the record for the best figures of a teenager in a World Cup match.

“Heart still beating as fast as [if] I’ve just bowled a 100 mph over. In the end, barely managed to cross the line. Imad took responsibility and won it in the end, Shaheen going strong. One step closer. We need to continue supporting Afghanistan cricket as Pakistanis,” Akhtar said on Twitter.

With Pakistan having defeated Afghanistan, they will now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday to have any chance of reaching the last four.
