Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar is extremely confident that the national team will “crush” Afghanistan in their World Cup clash at Headingley on Saturday.
Pakistan need to beat Afghanistan to keep their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals alive.
However, Afghanistan, who have already been eliminated from the race to reach the last four as they have lost all seven of their matches, will be looking to end their World Cup campaign on a high by winning their last two games.
Despite this, Akhtar firmly believes that Pakistan will emerge victorious in Leeds.
“We are going to crush you tomorrow, very simple as,” Akhtar said in his YouTube video. “We’re going to crush you and we’re going to take away two points.”
If Pakistan beat Afghanistan, they will then have to take down Bangladesh at Lord’s on July 5 in order to have any chance of reaching the last four.
However, even if they defeat Afghanistan and Bangladesh, it might not be enough as they will have to rely on the results of other matches.
