Pakistan batsman Babar Azam believes that Shaheen Shah Afridi and Wahab Riaz bowled brilliantly during the team’s World Cup win over New Zealand on Wednesday.
Afridi finished with figures of 3-28 off his 10 overs and also bowled three maiden overs. He dismissed Colin Munro, Ross Taylor and Tom Latham.
As for Wahab, he didn’t take any wickets, but only conceded 55 runs off his 10 overs.
“Our bowling started well, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled well then Wahab bhai also bowled well,” Azam was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Azam was named Man of the Match in the game as he struck an unbeaten 101 to lead Pakistan to a six-wicket win and hand New Zealand their first loss of the tournament.
Pakistan’s victory over the Black Caps also kept their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals alive.
Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against Afghanistan at Headingley on Saturday.
If they beat Afghanistan, Pakistan will then have to take down Bangladesh at Lord’s on July 5 in order to have any chance of reaching the last four.
However, even if they defeat Afghanistan and Bangladesh, it might not be enough as they will have to rely on the results of other matches.
