Pakistan batsman Babar Azam revealed that his and Mohammad Hafeez’s gameplan against New Zealand on Wednesday was to “take less chances against the spinners and attack the fast bowlers”.

Azam was named Man of the Match in the game as he struck an unbeaten 101, which came off 127 balls and included 11 boundaries.

Hafeez, meanwhile, scored 32 before he was dismissed by New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.

“The pitch was a little slow at the start, but it began to turn later on so it was difficult for us. Myself and Hafeez bhai planned to take less chances against the spinners and attack the fast bowlers,” Azam was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against Afghanistan at Headingley on Saturday.
