Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja firmly believes that the national team have to improve their fielding if they want to win their last three World Cup group stage games.

Ramiz’s comments come after Pakistan dropped seven catches in their clash against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.

While Pakistan still won the match by 49 runs, Ramiz pointed out the result could be a lot different in future games.

The men in green have been disappointing in the field in many of their games, and Ramiz admitted that this has seriously hurt their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals and winning the World Cup.

“Pakistan need to improve their fielding because it cannot happen that bowlers dismiss batsmen twice. We are not even grabbing simple chances,” he was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “No matter how brilliant a side is with the bat and ball, if you are not a good fielding side, then you cannot win the World Cup. So this is a wake-up call for Pakistan.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against New Zealand at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
