Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has revealed that pace bowler Hasan Ali and all-rounder Shoaib Malik need to be removed from the playing XI.

Hasan has only taken two wickets in four matches at a dismal average of 128.

Malik, meanwhile, scored eight runs against England and made a two-ball duck against Australia and a golden duck against India.

In total, Malik has scored eight runs in three games at an average of 2.66.

In regards to his bowling, he has only taken one wicket at an average of 47.

“I think Hasan Ali should be given a rest as he is out of form and badly struggling to make any sort of impact,” Salman told The Nation. “I think the out-of-form Shoaib Malik should also meet the same fate and should pave the way for Haris Sohail.

“Shoaib Malik should have announced his retirement in the middle of the World Cup as he could get axed from the coming match.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
