Former England captain Nasser Hussain believes Pakistan need to move on from veteran all-rounders Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik.

Hafeez has fared decently with the bat as he was named Man of the Match for his knock of 84 in Pakistan’s 14-run win over England.

He followed that up with 46 runs in Pakistan’s loss to Australia and nine runs in his side’s defeat to India.

However, he has not had much of an impact with the ball.

As for Malik, he scored eight runs against England and made a two-ball duck against Australia and a golden duck against India.

“Don’t keep going back to the past. I look at the Pakistan side who keep going back to Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik. Look at the future, go with youth,” Hussain was quoted as saying by Saj Sadiq on Twitter.

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
