Shoaib Akhtar: “Pakistan needs to bring back the right people in order to groom the side”

Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has hinted that the national team will benefit if their coaching staff is completely changed.

Pakistan have struggled in the ongoing World Cup, where they have won just one of their five games thus far.

With their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals in serious danger, Akhtar feels that a coaching staff overhaul is needed.

“Pakistan needs to bring back the right people in order to groom the side,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “If you keep on bringing in average people, then you will get average performances.

“Until we come away from mediocre people, they will also bring in other mediocre people – remember that. A mediocre person never likes an extraordinary person as he is better than the mediocre person.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
