Former captain Shahid Afridi has called on fans not to lose hope in Pakistan, who have been struggling in the ongoing World Cup.
Pakistan lost to arch-rivals India by 89 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in their World Cup clash on Sunday.
India’s victory extended their unbeaten streak against Pakistan as they have now won all seven of their meetings against their arch-rivals in the World Cup.
To make matters worse, Pakistan have now only won one of the five World Cup games they have played.
With their hopes of making it to the semi-finals in real danger, Afridi noted that the men in green will need all the support they can get in their last four group stage games.
“I know every one of us is disappointed by such performances but we all should support them as these players are the representatives of our country,” Afridi said on Twitter as quoted by arysports.tv. “We should stand behind them in ups and downs.”
Pakistan’s next World Cup game will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
