Legendary left-arm seamer Wasim Akram has suggested that Pakistan players seem to be more interested in playing domestic Twenty20 competitions around the world than representing their own country.
Many of the Twenty20 tournaments offer lucrative contracts that players find difficult to pass up.
With that in mind, Akram said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should only give No-Objection Certificates, which players require to play in these Twenty20 leagues, to those who are actively playing first-class cricket.

“At the moment, the Pakistan player’s mindset is, so what if I don’t play for Pakistan, I can play in T20 leagues. But NOCs should only be given by [the] PCB to players who have been playing first-class cricket,” Akram was quoted as saying by Saj Sadiq on Twitter.
Pakistan lost their most recent World Cup match against arch-rivals India and will be looking to bounce back when they take on South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
