Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed lauded his side for defeating World Cup favourites England in their clash in Nottingham on Monday.

All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez starred with the bat as he smashed a 62-ball 84.

However, Sarfraz also praised the bowlers for keeping their cool when England batsmen Joe Root and Jos Buttler amassed a 130-run partnership and both made hundreds.

Sarfraz also contributed to Pakistan’s 14-run victory as he hammered a 44-ball 55.

“It was a great team effort. The bowlers bowled really well. We tried a couple of different things. We started with Shadab because we know their openers are not good against spin,” he was quoted as saying by Sport24.

“Fielding is a very important part. In the last ODI series it was different. Today we feel better and we bowled better.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup game will be against Sri Lanka in Bristol on Friday.
