Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez attributed his side’s World Cup win over England on Monday to everyone chipping in and giving it their all.
Pakistan defeated England by 14 runs in a high-scoring affair in Nottingham, which snapped their 11-game losing streak in ODIs.
Hafeez was named Man of the Match for his 62-ball 84 and for taking the wicket of England captain Eoin Morgan.
“Everyone was believing we could do this. We were playing good cricket but not winning crucial stages of the game,” he was quoted as saying by Sport24. “Everyone chipped in today and gave everything which was required to win the game.
“We needed one winning performance and then everyone contributed accordingly. It was a total team effort. It is a very happy dressing room.”
Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against Sri Lanka in Bristol on Friday.
