Ex-Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has admitted that he was impressed with the way in which pace bowler Hasan Ali bowled during the national team’s World Cup opener against the West Indies.
Misbah noted that even though Hasan conceded 39 runs off his four overs, he was bowling just around 90mph.
Hasan went wicketless in the match, which Pakistan lost by seven wickets after they were bundled out for 105.
Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam were the top scorers as they both made 22 runs, while Wahab Riaz chipped in with a quickfire 18 at the end.
Mohammad Hafeez was the only other batsman to reach double figures as he made 16.
“I think if you look at the other guy Hasan Ali, he bowled at 88-89mph, so he was right there. He gave away runs but (Chris) Gayle was very sensible and experienced,” Misbah was quoted as saying by cricfrenzy.com.
Pakistan’s next match will be against hosts England in Nottingham on Monday.
