Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum is backing Pakistan to beat Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh in the World Cup.

McCullum’s post on Instagram comes after Pakistan were demolished by seven wickets in their World Cup opener against the West Indies.

Pakistan were skittled out for 105 after being put in to bat first and the men from the Caribbean proceeded to cruise to victory as they won with 218 balls to spare.

Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam were the top scorers as they both made 22 runs, while Wahab Riaz chipped in with a quickfire 18 at the end.

Mohammad Hafeez was the only other batsman to reach double figures as he made 16.

However, McCullum believes that the men in green will also lose to England, who they play on Monday, India and South Africa.

“World Cup game by game predictions. Four teams will fight out the fourth qualifying spot and net run rate will decide who progresses. Rain and luck will likely play a part as well. I hope New Zealand gets that little bit of luck and can qualify. Enjoy the six-week celebration of the best players on the planet,” he said on Instagram.
