Legendary Pakistan seamer Waqar Younis has admitted that he has been highly impressed with Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman.

Azam was the second-highest run-scorer in the recently concluded five-match ODI series against England, where he accumulated 277 runs, which included a century and two fifties, at an average of 55.40.

Imam scored 234 runs in four games, which included a career-best knock of 151, at an average of 117.

Zaman amassed 200 runs in five matches, which included a hundred and a half-century, at an average of 40.

As for Haris, he scored 69 runs in three games at an average of 34.50.

“The positive for Pakistan is that they have started scoring big totals. They have showed they are capable of scoring 300 plus and we saw that in their series against England,” Waqar was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk. “The batsmen have got used to the surfaces very quickly and have piled on the runs.

“They are all in good form, especially Babar Azam and Haris Sohail. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq have also done well so the top four looks really good. That issue has been solved.”

Pakistan’s second World Cup warm-up game will be against Bangladesh in Cardiff on May 26.

They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
