Jalaluddin: “The fast bowlers should be encouraged to use all variations”

Ex-Pakistan seamer Jalaluddin has admitted that the national team’s pace attack needs to work on using more variations ahead of the World Cup.

Pakistan’s seamers have struggled to have a major impact in the ongoing ODI series against England, and Jalaluddin pointed out that something must be done prior to the start of the World Cup.

He also conceded that he is concerned about the fact that the “bowlers are not performing to their potential”.

“The bowlers are not performing to their potential which is worrying keeping in mind the preparation for the World Cup,” he told The News International. “The fast bowlers should be encouraged to use all variations, such as slower ones, yorkers and bouncers. These make a bowler successful.

“It is now up to the team management to work with those players, especially [the] bowlers, who are struggling.”

After the ODI series against England, Pakistan will play two World Cup warm-up games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Bristol and Cardiff on May 24 and 26 respectively.

They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
