Fakhar Zaman admits India World Cup match is important, but it won't be treated any differently from the other matches Pakistan have to play cricket

Fakhar Zaman: “The India match is very important for us [as] there are a lot of eyeballs on this particular match, but that does not mean that we won’t go into matches, other than the one against [our] arch-rival, with the same vigour and determination”

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has admitted that his side’s World Cup clash with India is extremely important, but insisted that it won’t be treated any differently than the other games they play.

Pakistan have lost all six of their previous World Cup meetings with India, and the men in green will no doubt like to snap that winning streak when the two arch-rivals go up against each other again on June 16 in Manchester.

However, Pakistan can take confidence from the fact that they demolished India by 180 runs when they clashed in the Champions Trophy final in June 2017.

“The India match is very important for us [as] there are a lot of eyeballs on this particular match, but that does not mean that we won’t go into matches, other than the one against [our] arch-rival, with the same vigour and determination,” he was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk.

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
