Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed believes that left-arm seamer Junaid Khan can be the leader of the pace attack at the World Cup.

Junaid was selected ahead of fellow left-arm fast bowlers Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan Shinwari when Pakistan announced their World Cup team last month.

Mushtaq’s choice of Junaid being the pace spearhead likely stems from the fact that the 29-year-old is the most experienced seamer in the World Cup squad.

“I think Junaid is the bowler who can [take] command of Pakistan’s pace attack,” Mushtaq said on ARY News’ show ‘Sports Room’.

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
