Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has admitted that he has high hopes for left-arm seamer Junaid Khan at the World Cup.

Junaid was included in Pakistan’s World Cup squad ahead of fellow left-arm pace bowlers Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan Shinwari.

However, Pakistan are allowed to make changes to their World Cup squad without permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC) until May 23.

Explaining why he is expecting big things from Junaid during the World Cup in England and Wales, Sarfraz told Dawn: “He [Junaid] knows how to bowl in the middle and death overs. If you look at his record in England, it’s exceptional.

“He has performed well in the past in the Champions Trophy and has bowled impressively in county cricket as well.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
