Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has confirmed that all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will bat at number four during the World Cup.
Hafeez recently said that he sees himself as an opener and wants to be one in the current Pakistan side.
However, with Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman having done a brilliant job atop the order, it was always going to be unlikely that Hafeez would take one of their spots.
Now, it is set in stone as Sarfraz made it clear that Hafeez will fill the number four spot on the batting line-up.
“Hafeez Bhai has been batting at No. 4 for the last one-and-a-half years or so,” Sarfraz told Dawn. “His slot is set and he will be seen batting at the same position.”
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
