Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed is backing left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir to be part of Pakistan’s finalised World Cup squad.
Amir was left out of the initial team that was announced last week.
The decision to omit him is likely due to his disappointing form in ODIs since the conclusion of the Champions Trophy in June 2017.

Since then until now, Amir has taken five wickets in 14 matches at an average of 92.60.
However, with Pakistan being allowed to make changes to their World Cup squad without permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC) until May 23, Mushtaq is optimistic that the 27-year-old will be part of the 15-man team.
Amir has a chance to snap his dismal run of form during the upcoming limited overs series against England, which will consist of a one-off Twenty20 International and five ODIs, and run from May 5 to 19.
“They [the PCB] have sent a message to Mohammad Amir that he has to perform in the five one-day internationals [against England],” he was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “If he performs well, he will get considered for the World Cup.
“I think that Amir will be in Pakistan’s World Cup squad, as Amir has a repeatable action and is a big match player, and in major tournaments one needs temperament more than talent.”
