Imad Wasim: “I am completely fit but I am working even more on my fitness”

Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim has confirmed that he has fully recovered from the recurrence of a knee injury.

Imad had been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore after the conclusion of the ODI series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates, where he captained Pakistan in the last two games.

He was also given more time to pass the yo-yo test all 23 probables had to undergo.

Since he passed it, he was subsequently included in Pakistan’s World Cup squad.

However, the 30-year-old insisted that he is working hard to make himself even more fit prior to the start of the quadrennial event in England and Wales.

“I am completely fit but I am working even more on my fitness,” Imad was quoted as saying by Dawn.

Imad also admitted that he was inspired by the speech Prime Minister and former Pakistan captain Imran Khan gave to the World Cup squad.

Pakistan’s lone World Cup triumph came under the captaincy of Imran back in 1992.

“The meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan has raised our spirits,” Imad said.

The men in green will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
