Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed will serve as one of the West Indies’ assistant coaches and the team’s spin bowling coach during the World Cup.
He will also hold the same roles during the ODI tri-series between Ireland, Bangladesh and the men from the Caribbean next month.
In addition to Mushtaq, the West Indies’ coaching staff will consist of interim head coach Floyd Reifer and Corey Colleymore and Roddy Estwick, who will both be assistant coaches.
Estwick was previously the West Indies’ bowling coach, while Colleymore has held the same position for the past year.
As for Mushtaq, he joined the West Indies on a consultancy role last October.
“In consultation with interim head coach Floyd Reifer, [we] assembled a strong support group of coaches to work with the squad for the tri-series… This support group will continue throughout the ICC Cricket World Cup in England,” West Indies’ director of cricket Jimmy Adams was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
