Pakistan batsman Faisal Iqbal admitted that he sympathizes with opener Imam-ul-Haq as he had to constantly defend himself for having a famous uncle.
Faisal believes his international career was curtailed since people thought he was only in the side as his uncle was legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad.
In Imam’s case, his uncle is former captain and current chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Since making his international debut in October 2017, Imam has constantly had to fend off criticism as a result of being related to Inzamam.
Faisal conceded that he knows what the 23-year-old is going through, and told cricketpakistan.com.pk: “Imam is going through a similar ordeal, as people look for opportunities to talk negatively about him. Players should always be judged on their performance rather than who they are related to.”
