Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has lashed out at stand-in captain Shoaib Malik over his comments about the ongoing ODI series against Australia.
Following Pakistan’s eight-wicket loss in the second ODI in Sharjah on Sunday, Malik said: “It’s not about winning the series, it’s about testing our bench strength.”
However, Akhtar pointed out that Pakistan should be concerned about winning the series as they lost their last ODI series against South Africa 3-2.
In addition to that, this series is being played just two months ahead of the World Cup, which will be held in England and Wales.
“Malik said the wrong things during the presentation… We should learn [that] we need to say the right thing at the right time, as it matters a lot,” Akhtar was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.
Pakistan trail 2-0 in the five-match series and will look to bounce back in the third ODI on March 27 in Abu Dhabi.
