Legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara wants to see Pakistan take on India in the final of the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales.

While relations between India and Pakistan have been extremely frosty in recent months, Lara hopes that both countries make to the final, like they did at the Champions Trophy in 2017.

In the Champions Trophy, India beat Pakistan by 124 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, but Pakistan got revenge in the final as they crushed India by 180 runs.

“The Champions Trophy final a couple of years ago, Pakistan versus India… that would be a wonderful final to see again,” Lara was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

Lara also admitted that India are favourties to win the World Cup.

“They are capable of playing all around the world. India start as favourites,” he said.

Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31, while India’s first match will be against South Africa in Southampton on June 5.

The two arch-rivals will play each other in Manchester on June 16.
