Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik admitted that he was highly impressed with pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Hasnain was one of the standout performers in the tournament as he took 12 wickets in seven games for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 17.58.
In addition to his impressive wicket-taking abilities, the 18-year-old was also clocked to be bowling at speeds up to 150km/h.
He was thus drafted into Pakistan’s squad for the ongoing ODI series against Australia.
“When you produce pace of 145km/h [and over] in your bowling, then that becomes a lethal quality to have,” Malik was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “He [Hasnain] is a very talented bowler, as we have seen in practice and also in PSL and he is rated very highly. I think his development is a great sign for Pakistan cricket.
“If we look back a few years, then it didn’t look as if we would get a bowler who can bowl at 140km/h [and over] but we have seen in the recently concluded PSL that there are three to four such bowler who can bowl at such speeds which is great for Pakistan cricket.”
